Arely Fiesta, Club Meeting and Facility Improvements

True Path Ministry missionaries Stephen and Tonyia recently made a trip to Galeana, NL, Mexico for Arely’s 15th birthday celebration. Her parents, Pastors Reynaldo and Lourdes, lead the Centro Cristiano Getsemaní church and are close working partners with our mission work for Jesus in Mexico. We also had a chance to attend one of the two Marcos 10:14 Kids Clubs we support and see the many improvements to the church facilities.

A Fiesta de Quinceañera is a major cultural event in Mexico and Arely is like a granddaughter to us. We have been part of her life about ten years watching her grow from a little girl into a beautiful young lady. It was a fitting celebration for a truly remarkable person who is honoring the Lord with her life. She reminds us of one who is following Proverbs 3:5 (ESV). “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

On Thursday, in advance of the fiesta we had a chance to attend the weekly Galeana Marcos 10:14 Kids Club meeting. It is one of two Kids Clubs we support. It was spiritually uplifting to see over twenty-five happy children playing games, responding to a Bible teaching, assembling a craft and enjoying a meal. Teacher Ana and a number of faithful adults were there as usual, to do the work of the Lord for the kids.

It had been a while since we were in Galeana because of Stephen’s auto accident, related hospitalizations and brain surgery. The Centro Cristiano Getsemaní church is very alive with active men’s, women’s, youth and children’s ministries. Services are well attended and volunteers have stepped up to help the many ministries of the church.

The congregation, on its own initiative, have begun numerous upgrades for the church. The Worship center is well maintained with all surfaces painted, plus they have added a screen and projector.

The men of the church added a series of concrete steps going up the steep hill leading to the parking area. Many from the congregation walk to the church building. They also added a new men’s and women’s outdoor restroom with a lavatory. They have begun construction on a kitchen building necessary to serve the growing church. Various groups hold events on the grounds, inside the worship center and at the outside covered pavilion.

God made all this possible. True Path Ministry and our supporters were the seeds Christ used to sew into committed Christians in the Galeana area. TPM is called to rural and small towns where no other organizations venture. There is still much to do in the many surrounding villages TPM serves. May God continue to guide us, give us wisdom and His favor.
