Drawing Jesus Closer: Holy Spirit

“This drawing came to mind one morning as I reflected on the impact of the Holy Spirit in my life as a Christian,” said Stephen. “He has guided me and shown Himself in many ways, but it is my prayer that I will always be open to experiencing the fullness of the Holy Spirit in my life.” In John 14:25-31 and Acts 1:8 are two places where Jesus discusses the Holy Spirit.

Drawing Jesus Closer: Where Is Our Treasure?

“This simple illustration came from a time of personal reflection,” said Stephen. “Time and time again Jesus tells us to consider the impact  of our lives beyond the here and now.” Jesus said, “but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:19-24

Rushing Wind at Kid’s Club

And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they [Jesus’ followers] were sitting (Acts 2:2). On May 25th the children at the Marco 10:14 Kid’s Club in Galeana, NL, Mexico learned about the coming of the Holy Spirit. Teacher Ana read much of the story including Peter’s impassioned speech (Acts 2:14-36). It was a powerful lesson. During craft time the kids made paper pinwheels designed to turn in a breeze to remind them of the wind sound the people heard. It was a fun time of learning about the Lord.

Draw Jesus Closer: Salvation Seed

“Drawing simple illustrations is one way I sometimes meditate on God’s word,” said Stephen. “I start with an image I perceive from a specific verse and use colored pencils to make a simple drawing. It brings me closer to Jesus and helps me understand what the Lord wants me to get from a passage. It is an adventure in reading scripture that often takes me to different parts of the Bible. I call this drawing ‘salvation seed.'” Bible references:
Salvation Seed: Matthew 13:1-23, 1 Peter 1:22-23.
Good Soil: Galatians 5:22-23, John 14:27, Colossians 3:10, John 3:16, John 4:14.
Rocks and Weeds: Galatians 5:17, Luke 12:20-21, 1 Peter 5:8, Ephesians 6:12.
