COVID-19 is a Menace to Mexico

The COVID-19 worldwide plague continues to be a big issue in the areas served by True Path Ministry (TPM), as missionaries Stephen and Tonyia Williams discovered on a recent visit. The couple have a house in Galeana, NL, Mexico where they normally live several months each year, but not this year. However, there is good news on the construction projects at the Iglesia Getsemani church building and the parsonage. Progress on both projects have accelerated this year (see Good Progress at Galeana Construction Projects).

Normal activities of TPM, such as the Marcos 10:14 Kids Club, evangelism to remote villages and even worship services have been either halted or altered. The US-Mexico border is closed except for folks who have essential business in either country. After a long discussion the Williams got special permission from a Mexico health official to enter. In addition, Galeana, NL, has a special medical checkup tent setup at the entrance to the town. The missionaries had gained prior permission to enter the town thanks to Pastor Reynaldo.

Unfortunately, Mexico has one of the highest percentages of deaths per person who gets the sickness in the world. The country as a whole is suffering. We understand, the bulk of those with the virus in the state of Nuevo Leon, live in Monterrey. They believe locally only about 100 persons have had the illness. An ill person can be tested at the small local hospital, but it is not equipped to handle a COVID-19 patient. They will be sent home or if a person’s condition becomes very serious they are taken to Monterrey. We heard stories that when someone dies from the virus their body is cremated and no funerals are allowed.

Inside Galeana there are numerous restrictions affecting everyday life. The central plaza, which is the life blood of the community, is closed with a fence around it. The schools have no in-person classes. Masks are mandatory all over, especially in the stores. I (Stephen) saw a health official in the plaza area reminding people to “social-distance” and wear masks. There is a nightly round of sanitation spraying in areas where people gather during the day.

The government now allow churches to meet, but have issued restrictions. No one over 60 years of age, no one with preexisting conditions: heart disease, diabetes, etc., are suppose to attend and no young children. Masks and the social-distance rules apply and no hugging or even hand shakes. Chairs in the Iglesia Getsemani church building have a big area of separation around each one.

For this group of serious Christ followers, Church services are an essential part of life, especially during this time. I noticed during worship that every seat was taken (even on a Wednesday night), the services are still Spirit filled and Christ is being proclaimed and glorified.

There have not been any members here who have had the COVID-19. We pray the Lord continues to shield these good folks and that this worldwide plague soon passes.

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 (NKJV)

Pastor Russell Mills’ Passing

Pastor Russell Mills, a great servant of the Lord, passed from this world to be with Jesus on September 1, 2020. He was a powerful man of God, filled with the Holy Spirit and fervent in sharing the Gospel of Christ with others. The church he led, Grace Tabernacle in Ennis, Texas, is a long-time supporter of True Path Ministry and its mission in Mexico. While heaven welcomed a mighty man of God, he will be greatly missed here on earth. We especially lift up Russell’s wife LaDonna, and children Rebekah, Rachel, Reagan, and Lindsey.

All of us involved with TPM send our heart felt condolences to the Mills family and the many friends who mourn Russell’s passing. He touched numerous lives for the Lord at several churches where he was the Pastor throughout the years.

We take comfort knowing the word of the Lord is true: Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:37-39 (NKJV)

Pastor Santiago (Chago) At Home With The Lord

Pastor Santiago (called Chago) a longtime friend of True Path Ministry and a mighty servant of the Lord passed away the 12th of August 2020. He is now with Christ in his heavenly home. He was the pastor at Refugio, NL, Mexico, where he and his wife Idalia lived in a simple rock structure overlooking a beautiful valley. It is an extremely remote, small mountain village at the end of a challenging road.

Chago was in his 80’s, he lived life with great zeal and total dependence on the Lord. He was one of those memorable characters who was a joy to be around during worship and fellowship – always smiling.

“From the world’s perspective he may have seemed insignificant, but from a kingdom perspective he was a giant. I am sure he received a great crown,” said John Sursa, who came to know Chago from short-term missionary trips with TPM.

Anytime there was a worship service within “a donkey’s ride distance” he was there. It was not unusual to see him drop to his knees with his arms fully extended in reverent worship of the Lord. His prayers were sincere and reflected an intimate relationship with Christ. His simple life and faithful dedication to the Lord was a lesson for us all. He will be missed.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8

TPM Continues Its Work for Jesus in Mexico

True Path Ministry Inc. continues to serve Christ through its work in Mexico. In the last few months we have helped families during this trying time and have made major strides with supported construction projects.

The international COVID-19 pandemic has hit hard in Mexico including around Galeana where True Path Ministry (TPM) bases its operations. As of July 3rd there were 238,511 reported cases nationwide, 5,090 of those cases in Nuevo Leon and 51 in Galeana. Local residents are under a stay-at-home order and no large gatherings are allowed, including Church services.

Pastors Reynaldo, Lulu and evangelist Ramiro continue to serve the Lord during this difficult time. They are ministering to people in their homes, taking care of TPM business (while Missionaries Stephen and Tonyia Williams are in Texas) and related construction projects.

There has been substantial progress on the Iglesia Getsemani church building this year. All the exterior walls are now covered with a final layer of white colored stucco. The roof has been completed, thanks to a short-term missionary group who came in March (see Roof Finished & Restroom Complete at Getsemani Church). One of the two lower rooms was completed with a concrete floor, window, door, storage shelves and white stucco interior walls. It will be used for storage for now, but will easily convert to other uses later.

Work has begun on the parsonage. The building site has been leveled, which was a major effort because it is located beside the church building on the side of a rocky mountain. The footings have been cut in bedrock and wall support cement poured. The concrete block wall construction has begun. Reynaldo, Lulu and their three kids have all pitched in to help, in addition to paid skilled labor. Pastor Rey and family are very excited and thankful that they will soon have their own home.

Activities at our weekly Marcos 10:14 kids club meetings had to be suspended until we get the go-ahead from officials. We will discuss how to resume club meetings once we are able.

Missionaries Stephen and Tonyia Williams are are in the USA during the COVID-19 crisis and are blessed to have Pastors Reynaldo and Lulu to oversee TPM in Mexico. “We are in regular contact with Pastor Rey by phone and on occasion have used facetime to see him and the family. We enjoyed seeing them but we very much miss being there in person,” said Stephen.

TPM wants to thank you for your continued prayers and financial. Pray for the people in Mexico who are especially struggling during this time and for the Lord’s favor to end this plague soon. God bless.

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)

True Path Ministry Inc. Spring 2020 Newsletter

See our True Path Ministry Inc. Spring 2020 Newsletter (below on website in PDF format) we continue the work of this ministry in Jesus name. Thank you for your prayer and financial support.

TPM Missionaries Stephen and Tonyia are in Texas during this time of shelter in place. However, Pastors Reynaldo and Lourdes and Evangelist Ramiro carry on the ministry in Mexico, the light of Christ shines through Christians there. Pastor Rey and Lulu stay in touch with all members of their church. “And we are in regular contact with Pastor Rey and Lulu,” said Steve. We continue to work with Pastor Rey to provide financial or other resources, to families in need, especially during this difficult time.

The Marcos 10:14 kids club is not able to meet weekly due to the virus. Small groups have been meeting to worship and pray. Also, construction continues on the new building. We are not aware of anyone having the virus in the Galeana area. Praise the Lord!
