A Ray of Hope to San Pablo

We could see tears in their eyes, and the good-bye hug Pastor Juan and his wife gave us was extra tight. The Galeana group of Christians brought a much appreciated ray of hope to San Pablo, Mexico on Saturday, February 3^rd.

Worship was sweet with the overflow crowd that filled the small church. Many of the local folks showed up with worn Bibles in hand. The thirty kids were also eager to learn more about Christ during their time when the adults were listening to Evangelist Ramiro’s powerful sermon.

His sermon was based on Psalm 118:5-9. He has a way of interacting with people and meeting them where they are. The singing before the sermon was spirit-filled. Lulu used her acoustic guitar and beautiful singing voice to lead the crowd into a deep time of worship.

We also had lots of clothes, reading glasses, Bibles, toothbrushes, soap and gifts for the children and ladies after the service. It was a very fulfilling time serving our Lord Jesus the Christ.

“Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? The Lord is on my side as my helper; I shall look in triumph on those who hate me. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” Psalm 118:5-9 (ESV)

A good group of Christians from Galeana, NL, Mexico made the hour drive to share the day with folks in San Pablo (click on a photo to see it larger).

Several of the ladies from Galeara sang a special.

Lulu played her acoustic guitar to lead the song service in the over full church building.

Pastor Rey was also involved in the service.

Evangelist Ramiro gave an uplifting sermon.

The art project was a hit with the kids.

We gave out several Bibles to folks who asked for one.

We had several boxes of clothes for the village.

Reading glasses, toothbrushes and bars of soap were popular too.

We gave gifts to the children.

The Pastor and his wife got a special “blessing bag.”

The Pastor would like our help to build a new bathroom.

Getting the electricity to work was an interesting task.

It was a long dirt road in the desert to get to San Pablo.

Traffic on the road was also interesting.

This is a typical adobe home that is found in the area.

Meeting a Family’s Need

True Path Ministry is going to further improve living conditions for a young family the Lord has placed in our path. Eva, age ten, and Diana, eight, had been coming to club for some time, but when Pastor Rey pointed them out to me (Tonyia) and asked if I could help them with clothes, my attention was captured. This family of seven, two adults and five children, live in a 12′ x 12′ room with no running water, no kitchen and no bathroom.

I believe Christ placed these two young girls and their family in our ministry’s path for a reason. Steve and I gathered the girls some clothes from ones we had stored at the ministry house. Soon we had to make a trip to Monterrey, for ministry business, and at that time purchased clothes for all the kids.

I do not know where their hearts are, but my desire is to help these people the best I can by showing them the love of Jesus. These children hear about the love of Jesus at Marcos 10:14 club and now they will, see it with their eyes, thru us, and prayerfully this will draw them to HIM.

James 1:17 says: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.

We will soon start the work on getting this family a bathroom. We have a Rotoplas (water tank) which has been repaired and we will take it to the family Monday. This will at least give them a water source.

I know God has his hand over True Path Ministry and the many projects lined up for us in 2018. It’s a privilege to be a small part of what He is up to! Thank you all for your love and prayers!

Cold Day, Hot Meal, Warmed Hearts

We often encounter smiles from folks when we deliver the meals on Tuesdays. However, January 23rd was an especially cold day and the nutritious hot soup Nuevo Corazon made was warmly received by all. One man was not at his home when we drove by, but we later found him looking for a meal in a trash can beside the road. We felt his gratitude deeply, but the praise was for Christ. He is why Nuevo Corazon cooks the food and why we deliver the meals. Jesus gets the glory!

We often have others help us do the fun part, deliver the meals. Abdiel, Pastor Rey’s son, helped us last week. This week Rey’s nephew assisted us.

Proclaiming Christ the King in El Carmen

Eighteen Christians from Galeana, NL, Mx made the hour and a half drive to the tiny desert village El Carmen to proclaim Jesus the Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords. Pastor Ezekiel’s small church building filled with worshipers eager to hear what the Holy Spirit had for them. It was a powerful time for the adults and a fun-filled learning experience for the children who had their own separate service (the photographs included on the website tell the story best).

After the services the kids were given candy and gift bags full of toys, a Christian tract, toothbrushes and other personal items. The adults were given Bibles, clothing, reading glasses, toothpaste and toothbrushes. Plus, the women got a special gift bag with an ink pen, writing pad, hand lotion, lip gloss and tissues.

Most of the adults in the group from Galeana wore their matching Iglesia Getsemani shirts (click on a photo to see it larger).

Evangelist Ramiro delivered a powerful sermon about the staff Moses and Aaron used (Exodus 7).

The church building was full of worshipers.

The adults who came from Galeana all spoke to the congregation.

The children had their own service lead by Ana and Edith from Galeana.

After services the kids were each given a gift.

The ladies in the service also got a special gift.

There was clothing for everyone.

Toothbrushes and glasses were also given out.

We gave a “Blessing Bag” to Pastor Ezekiel and his family.

The church congregation fed us.

They are working on a new bigger church building beside the existing structure.

The paved highway into the desert soon turned into a dusty dirt road.

Most of the thirty mile, hour and a half drive, was on a rough dirt road.

We met this motorcycler who was using plastic to block some of the cold air on his drive to town.

We drove through a forest of Joshua Trees.

We took a soccer ball for the kids to play with. It had to be retrieved from the top of a local house.

Pastor Reynaldo and Lulu are always eager to take the gospel on the road with True Path Ministry.

How Is the Sower and the Seed and Pudding Connected?

The sower and the seed was this week’s lesson at the Marcos 10:14 Kids Club in Galeana, NL, Mexico. To help the kids remember the teaching Tonyia made chocolate pudding, gave each child a small bag of crushed Oreo cookies and a few gummy worms to add to the top of the pudding. It represented the good soil.

We discovered pudding is a real novelty here, the adults had never heard of it. They all liked it very much. To further drive the lesson home, teacher Patty used real dirt, rocks and plants to illustrate the lesson. The children learned Mark 4:20, “But those that were sown on the good soil are the ones who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” Several of the kids repeated it to show they had memorized it.

It was a very cold night and only about twenty kids came to club, but it was a great night for those who came. They had fun, learned more about Christ and experienced a new food.
