Tonyia and Stephen Williams have bee called to work as Christian Missionaries in Mexico. This is the ongoing story about our adventures.

The Donkey that Spoke

Over forty kids, including a number of first time visitors, came to the Marcos 10:14 Kids club on February 21. The study was from the story about the prophet Balaam in Numbers 22:22-35. Where God used a donkey to talk to Balaam after he ignored angels sent to him.

It was a fun night of singing, prayer, games, study, food and fellowship. Each week True Path Ministry and Getsemani Church  team up to treat all children who come to the love of Jesus. Praise Christ our Lord.

Purpose in Purisma

The Bible tells us not only to go forth and spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, but to be encouragers.  Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. Romans  15:2

The True Path Ministry team and several from the Galeana Getsemani Church had the opportunity yesterday to take the word to Purisma. It is a village in the mountains about 30 miles from Galeana but it took us about a 2 hour drive, due to the terrain. The travel is beautiful with mountain in the background and once you get closer to the village there are several water crossings.

Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up. Romans  15:2

Evangelist Ramiro preached the word, many sang praises, the kids had their own time of praise and worship. The great people of Purisma blessed us with a meal. As we were leaving, the kids begged to stop at one of the water crossings to play in the stream. It was a hot day for February, in the 90’s. We all wanted the refreshing of the water, so we stopped.  It was not that cold but it did cool us down.

We don’t always get to see the fruit from Jesus’ work, but we know HIS word does not go out void so we will press on in Jesus name! Thank you to the beautiful people of Purisma for receiving us with such love, and thank you Jesus for protecting us and allowing us to do your work!

Valentine’s Day Theme at Club “Jesus is love”

We celebrated Valentine’s Day at the Marco 10:14 Club meeting February 14th. It is a day that is honored in Mexico as in the US. It was a Christ centered lesson and there were red hearts everywhere. “We love because he first loved us,” says the Bible in 1 John 4:19. Tonyia brought fifty boxes of those little heart shaped candies and individual chocolates from Texas and each child who could recite the verse received one. All forty kids memorized the verse and got a box of candy and a chocolate.

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

The entire lesson was from 1 John 4 that “God is Love” section of the book. The craft reinforced the lesson too. We also treated the kid’s to “elotes” which is corn on a stick with mayonnaise and hot sauce brushed on it, and a special cheese sprinkled on it. Lulu boiled fifty pieces of corn still in the shuck in a big pot. It is a treat reserved for special occasions.

Thankfully there were many adults helpers primarily from the Getsemani Church. It was another great club night – praise Jesus. (Note: below are photos from the club meeting – click on a photo to see it larger)

I Will Extol My God and King

Each week True Path Ministry (TPM) welcomes kids of all ages to the tent of meeting beside its Casa Alfarero (house of the potter). At the meeting they play games, pray, sing, make a craft, hear a Bible lesson and are served a meal. But most importantly they are shown the love of Jesus – faith, hope and love at every meeting.

Adult volunteers (mostly from the Getsemani Church) drive the TPM 1995 Suburban to the edges of Galeana loading kids along the way and return them home after the meeting. Volunteers teach the lesson, prepare and serve the food and shower them with kindness. Many have been coming for three years.

I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever.

Psalm 145:1

What did we teach? I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. This is verse one from Psalm 145 and it was their memory verse on February 7. They learned about King David, the Bible book Psalm and true worship. The craft was to make a “praise flag” to wave for the glory of God.

The lessons and crafts are part of a teaching series that impart the essentials of the Christian faith. It is also a joy to see how they have learned several songs of the faith. We are not aware of programs like it in the area.

Thank you to those who support our ministry in Mexico. Your prayers and financial gifts keep us going. Jesus is is glorified and you are always a part of that.

Getsemani Church: Built on Jesus the Rock

Over 150 people came on Saturday night, February 9th to help dedicate to God the new partially finished Getsemani Church building in Galeana, NL, Mexico. Pastors Reynaldo and Lourdes (Lulu) were anointed with oil in a moving ceremony by Pastor Ricardo and wife Norma, as a Christian Mariachi band played in the background. Ricardo and Norma shepherd a church in San Joaquin and the two congregations are good friends.

Pastor Ricardo called all the pastors and missionaries forward and gave each one some blessed Virgin Olive Oil. There were pastors from several villages and from other Galeana Christian congregations.

Each Pastor and missionary was responsible for anointing an area of the building and praying so that every section was dedicated solely to God. What had been mere concrete was transformed into a space where the Holy Spirit would always be welcomed and where Jesus would be worshiped to the glory of God the Father.

The Getsemani youth group performed a dramatic skit, each pastor and missionary spoke briefly and Evangelist Ramiro gave a rousing sermon.  Tables were set up and the Getsemani Church served each person a meal. It was a memorable night that brought lots of joyful tears especially from Pastors Rey and Lulu. They had been praying and working for over eight years toward getting a congregation owned Church building.

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40: 30-31

It took a while to get this far, but the Getsemani Church building is constructed on a rocky hill overlooking the community, but more importantly it was built on the solid rock of faith in Jesus!
