Stephen and Tonyia Williams were both ordained by Damascus Road Fellowship and are licensed by Independent Assemblies as ministers of the gospel of Jesus the Christ. We are recognized by Comunion de Iglesias Cristianas en Mexico para las Nacions, Monterry, NL, Mexico (SGAR-3082-2008) as missionaries.

Why did we suddenly decide to move to Mexico where we have no family and do not speak the language? In September 2015 we went to Raices, a small village south of Galeana, because Tonya had a dream some months before. The Lord told her she was to go to the Christian church there and tell them the Lord wanted them to know that the time is near, He is coming back soon. He loves them and wishes for no one to perish-no not one. There was a move by the Holy Spirit and the alter filled with people seeking prayer. It was a powerful and moving time.

Later during that trip we drove deep into the mountains of Mexico and stopped. As we were admiring the view, we looked at each other and said together “the Lord wants us here.” It was a clear call from the Lord.

The couple have been married over 25 years. While both grew up around Christians their faith truly became the central focus of their lives about 2001. There was a series of events that brought them to the end of themselves turning them whole heartily to Jesus.

Before answering the Lord’s call to become full-time missionaries, Stephen and Tonyia made over 10 short term mission trips to Mexico. In 2015 Steve quit his job, they sold most of their worldly goods and in 2016 followed their hearts to serve Jesus in Mexico. They are just now trying to learn Spanish and the ways of an unfamiliar country.

Stephen attended Dallas Baptist University where he enjoyed Old Testament and New Testament survey, worldviews and other Christian classes. He has read through the Bible a couple of times and has a passion for Bible study. He has taught both adult and youth Bible studies, for a number of years, using text and multi-media resources he produced. He has also shared his heart for the Lord many times before congregations in various churches where he was involved.

Tonyia has extensive Bible knowledge from years of study and practice as a committed Christian. She is blessed with discernment and has been involved with several ministry endeavors including co-teaching with Stephen. The Lord gave her a special gift to use American SIGN Language to express her love of the Lord to Christian music.
